Blogging is always evolving, like any job or hobby there will always be something new to learn or another way of doing things ? whether you embrace the changes is entirely up to you of course and like me you may feel far more comfortable behind a camera than in-front of it.

Previously as bloggers we showcased our posts with pictures to highlight our written words however it can sometimes be hard to get a message across with only written words and pictures, in these cases we turned to videos and this has become far more popular with more and more turning to vlogging.

So what is Vlogging?

?A video blog or video log, usually shortened to vlog, is a form of blog for which the medium is video, and is a form of web television. Vlog entries often combine embedded video (or a video link) with supporting text, images, and other metadata.? ? Wikipedia
This is something I need to become more confident in myself, I am not happy being in-front of the camera and speaking into it turns me into a gibbering wreck, so if you are like me or just want a few pointers our lovely bloggers are here to rescue us.

First up Sian who has written up her notes from her Blog Camp talk on Vlogging tips, in this post Sian uses her vlogs to illustrate the examples she give throughout the post and I especially love the homemade time lapse effect she has made using an egg timer ? you?ll have to pop over to see that in action yourself.

Next up is Aby who has a brilliant post on How to start vlogging, here she talks through the equipment you need, positioning yourself, lighting and then onto shooting your video and editing etc.

Lastly, I just love this from Vicki in which she talks about why she loves vlogging and her tips, I love Vicki?s vlogs as she is just the same in-front of the camera as she is behind it.

Once your vlog is now up on YouTube you will want to get as many people watching as possible, Lisa shares her tips on Growing your YouTube audience.

Now if videoing yourself just isn?t for you then you my like the idea of Podcasts instead ? these are audio clips which you make available online for download. Here Ruth talks you through making your own Podcasts, how to edit them and where you can host them once you?ve finished.  Of course Ruth knows what she is talking about as she and her husband have their own show which has been running now since 2012 ? Parental Geekery

Vicky also has a post on How to start a podcast, this focus? on starting up with almost no outlay. Vicky?s podcast runs every Wednesday and now focus? of social media and blogging tips so really is worth listening to.

Of course I can?t neglect to mention the very popular Love All Dads Podcast which I really enjoy listening to, and the lovely Nadine would like to share 5 podcasts for entrepreneurial women.

Do you listen to any podcasts? I would love your recommendations for some to listen to which I am cooking dinner in the evenings.

If you have a blogging tips post you would like included in next month?s post please tweet me or email me [email protected]
