Wes Craven has passed away

Posted on Aug 31, 2015

Wes Craven, creator of Nightmare on Elm Street, has died aged 76. Sad news indeed. Craven died at his Los Angeles home on Sunday from brain cancer. Craven wrote and directed A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984. His Scream franchise was reported to have grossed more than $100m (£65m) in the US. He wrote, directed and edited his first film, The Last House on the Left, in 1972. After that he wrote and directed The Hills Have Eyes in 1977. He reinvented the teen horror genre when the first film featuring Freddy Krueger was released in 1984. He had more recently signed deals to develop television programmes, including the new Scream series for MTV. Craven directed several other thrillers and horror movies during his career, including Swamp Thing (1982), Deadly Friend (1986) and The People Under the Stairs (1991). He is survived by his wife, producer and former Disney Studios vice president Iya Labunka. He was a legend. Source: BBC Please enable JavaScript to view the discussion by Sidelines. Voodoo Doll Pincushion How To ? a Great Beginner?s Sewing Project

Posted on Aug 31, 2015

I love ?cute gory?.. I am not REALLY into Zombies and ugly things?. (I am NOT a Walking the Dead fan at ALL!), but I do like a cute Zombie.. or like in this case Voodoo Doll. But this Voodoo doll craft isn?t just ANY Voodoo Doll craft ? it is a Voodoo Doll PIN CUSHION. Brilliant.. handy and fun at the same time!  This makes a great project for beginner(ish) sewers, but is meant for older kids or grow ups for sure. I think these Voodoo Doll Pincushions would make great little gifts around Halloween to. They also look cute as keyrings (minus the pins) and my two kids have already claimed these two as theirs! So though you can make this craft all year around, I do think it works REALLY well for Halloween too. So fun!! Voodoo Pincushion DIY ? Materials: Main colour felt (we used green and blue) Red felt & black felt scraps Embroidery thread (black) Button (optional) Stuffing Gingerbread man cookie cutter (to create your own template) How to Make a Voodoo Pincushion: (watch the video or read the instructions below or do both!!) and do SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube channel! 1) Begin by making your own template. I did this by using my gingerbread man cookie cutter ? I drew around him ? made him a little fatter and added an oversized head. 2) Cut out two pieces of felt the same colour using your homemade stencil. 3) Cut out a small black circle ? just bigger than your button. Sew on your button and felt at the same time. 4) Make a cross fro the second eye. 5) Sew the mouth ? a long line, with shorter ones over the top. 6) Then sew on your heart. 7) Pin your your top and bottom felt together. Then start sewing all around. I started UNDER THE ARM and went all around, leaving a small opening between the leg and arm at the end. 8) Stuff ? make sure you get it right into the legs and arms. 9) Close your hole? and you are finished! Easy. ENJOY your cute little Halloween Craft ? as mentioned above, these would look cute as keyrings or zipper pulls too (minus the pins) ? my kids have already hijacked them for themselves. He’s a dedicated follower of Fashion – Nick Wooster, The White Briefs & Woolmark

Posted on Aug 31, 2015

Nick Wooster (Above Left), or Nickelson, to give him his full Christian Name, has to be considered as one of the world?s best dressed man. Literally, every international best dressed list worth its salt, his name appears on it, but who the blinkering heck is this guy ? Well, it?s kinda of easier to say who he hasn?t worked with than has, huge American retailers like JC Penney, Barneys, Berdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus all appear on his CV, sorry resume, plus brands including Thom Browne, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren, so he isn?t doing too badly, hey. Well the latest brand he?s worked with are Swedish apparel brand The White Briefs to produce a 100 per cent Merino wool capsule collection in partnership with The Woolmark Company. Curated by Wooster ? The White Briefs Merino wool collection comprises knitted coats, gym shorts, sleek briefs and breezy robes. A rich palette of dark grey, black, deep navy and a modest touch of olive reinforces the quiet strength of the garments and the use of 100 per cent Australian Merino wool brings a natural and renewable element to the premium collection, which blurs the line between indoors and outdoors. The White Briefs studio aims to present consumers with a thoughtful innovative vision of our day-to-day and the items closest to our skin that we utilise in every way, shape and form. The studio embraces its love for humanity, environmental and corporate responsibility, lush high quality fabrics and meaningful organic farming. Furthermore, The White Briefs only incorporates sleek (GOTS) certified fabrics, carefully sourced and selected from local eco-communities, thus building a profound and intelligently supportive production line. This innovative encounter between exquisite timeless tailoring, sleek materials, austere colours and ecologically integrated social production, allows for an enigmatic aspiration to incorporate sartorial excellence into our intense daily endeavours. ?I discovered The White Briefs when I was working on a special project curating the best brands from around the world,? says Wooster. ?I fell in love with Peter Simonsson?s attention to detail, styling and quality. He has the best eye for packaging and great taste in colour and fabric. We collaborated a couple of years ago on a camouflage collection, and I when I started working with The Woolmark Company it was the perfect opportunity to co-?design a 100 per cent Merino wool capsule.? The Woolmark is the world?s best known textile fibre brand, established in 1964. The company mission is to enhance the profitability, international competitiveness and sustainability of the Australian wool industry; and increase demand and market access for Australian wool. Merino wool provides stability, resilience, softness and luxury to the tailoring industry. The fibre has long been a favourite of designers, but younger consumers, born in an era of ?disposable? fashion know too little about the natural benefits. Modest and understated, this collection is based on the notion of turning the inside out. The...

WWE Announces Team PCB ?Beat The Clock? Challenge For Raw

Posted on Aug 30, 2015

Three divas matches coming up on Raw. WWE.com It was announced on WWE?s Facebook page that on tomorrow night?s WWE Raw there will be the first ever ?Beat The Clock? challenge for the Divas. It will be a competition between Team PCB members Paige, Charlotte and Becky Lynch to see who can win their matches on Raw in the fastest time in order to determine who gets a Divas Title match against Nikki Bella at Night of Champions on September 20. A ?Beat The Clock? challenge has been used many times in the past to determine a top contender for a male title, but this is the first time for the Divas. You remember the Divas Title right? It?s the title that WWE has basically ignored for the last two months as this ?Divas Revolution? took over the divas division and they stopped having title matches even though Nikki has bragged about the length of her title reign repeatedly. WWE.com Nikki?s reign has lasted over 280 days and the all-time record is 295 days held by AJ Lee. The feeling is that WWE wants to have Nikki break the record because AJ retired from the company after WrestleMania this year and they probably weren?t happy that she just left like that. If Nikki holds the title until Night of Champions then she?ll not only pass AJ, but pass 300 days as well. It?s hard to forecast a winner because Paige, Charlotte and Becky are all faces that could do it. It was Becky that got the win at SummerSlam for the team, so it could be her. Charlotte is a strong possibility too. It probably won?t be Paige because she has faced Nikki so many times before. My pick is Charlotte although it?s far from a sure thing. Who do you think will win the Beat the Clock challenge? Let us know in the comments below. Blog – News more...
