The Ivy League of Ethically brands ? Ivywake

Posted on 9:05 am

As we continue to highlight brands that are not only being ethical, sustainable, but also innovative, the subject of today?s post is Ivywake is a British Organic Clothing Company that was built on the idea of creating a company which could incorporate city and country style while still being sustainable. Ivywake, self-proclaims to not being a perfect company as there are always ways a brand can improve their manufacturing, dyeing and transport process. As they grow as a company they pledge they will constantly integrate new methods and technology into their supply chain, allowing them to strive to become the most eco-friendly clothing company in the world. Their primary goal is to change the way the fashion industry operates, at the moment with fast fashion it is creating a huge amount of pollution and unregulated labour in the countries where the cotton is grown and where the clothes are produced. These are the two main areas they are focusing on tackling. Ivywake are doing this by using organic cotton for their garments, then using biodegradable and recyclable materials for their packaging. However at the moment the organic fashion industry has not really managed to transition into the main high-street fashion industry. This has created a gap where people are forced to compromise between buying sustainable clothing and fashionable clothing. This is where Ivywake want to fill this gap, their motto is ?Don?t Compromise?. The reason for it is because they believe they are creating a company that allows people to buy fashionably and sustainably. For example Ivywake pride themselves on the fact that their t-shirts are made using: ? Renewable wind energy o Very eco-friendly ? Fair wear Foundation o No child labour o No forced labour o Safe and healthy working conditions o Legal labour contracts o Payment of living wage o No discrimination against employees o No excessive hours of work ? Closed loop dyeing system o Water is recycled in closed loop system o Dyed with GOTS approved chemicals ? Organic cotton Through this process their t-shirts have: ? Reduced their carbon footprint by 90% ? Each T shirt saves 7 kilograms of CO2e ? CO2e (total carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and other greenhouse gases. Then in their packaging, their mailing bags are made out of a material called Coex that is recyclable, they are also working on getting their latest product that is also biodegradable. Their viewpoint is their packaging is to only use the essentials. The reason for this is because no matter how good it is for the environment to recycle, nothing is ever as good as simply not producing it. Therefore we have not added any swing tags to their clothing. When purchasing an Ivywake garment you are not just purchasing clothing, you are investing in creating a sustainable future. anthonymcgrath405 This adult …...

?No change? at Force India: Drivers still free to race despite costly Baku clash | 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Posted on 9:00 pm

Force India has told its drivers they remain free to race each other despite their costly clash during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Team co-owner Vijay Mallya said the team had spoken to its drivers following the collision which led to Sergio Perez?s retirement from the race. 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in pictures?Since Baku we?ve had some conversations internally and reminded our drivers that the team must always come first,? said Mallya. ?It?s never acceptable for team mates to make contact with each other and it certainly cost us points in Baku.? However Mallya added ?the events of Azerbaijan won?t change our approach.? ?Our drivers can race freely and I?m sure they have learned some valuable lessons,? he said. ?We?ve given them a competitive car and I know they are mature enough to work together for the good of the team.? Perez and team mate Esteban Ocon tangled while running fourth and fifth in the race. The three drivers who were in front of them at the time all subsequently hit trouble. Ocon finished sixth after Perez?s retirement. ?We certainly played our part in a dramatic race and it?s still frustrating to ponder what might have been had things played out differently,? Mallya admitted. Relations have been strained between Force India?s drivers since the Canadian Grand Prix, where Perez refused to consider requests from the team to let Ocon past him to attack a slower rival ahead. Force India remain fourth in the championship but fifth-placed Williams closed on them at the last round. Mallya warned his team they have ?no room for complacency? in the races ahead. 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Browse all Azerbaijan Grand Prix articles clear information on News in...

Sauber parts ways with team principal Kaltenborn | 2017 F1 season

Posted on 9:05 am

Monisha Kaltenborn has stood down as team principal and CEO of Sauber, the Swiss outfit?s owner has confirmed. ?Longbow Finance SA regrets to announce that, by mutual consent and due to diverging views of the future of the company, Monisha Kaltenborn will leave her positions with the Sauber Group effective immediately,? it said in a statement. ?We thank her for many years of strong leadership, great passion for the Sauber F1 team and wish her the very best for the future. Her successor will be announced shortly; in the meantime we wish the team the best of luck in Azerbaijan.? Kaltenborn has been with Sauber for 17 years. She became CEO in 2010 and took over from founder Peter Sauber as team principal in 2012, becoming the first woman to head an F1 team. The team has struggled on and off the track in recent seasons amid rising costs and falling sponsorship revenues. They failed to score any points in 2014 and ran into financial problems. The team began 2015 in a messy dispute over drivers. The team were unable to participate in the first practice session of the season after Giedo van der Garde, who?d been passed over for a seat at the team, took them to court. Sauber lost the case and was ordered to pay a fine. Their financial problems continued to mount in 2016 until investment was secured from Swiss company Longbow Finance. The team narrowly avoided finishing last in the championship to Manor, which would have cost them millions in lost prize money. They are ninth in the championship at present. 2017 F1 season Browse all 2017 F1 season articles More celebrity news...
